Even if you do not live in Delaware County- the decisions this board makes will affect you!
The Delaware County Planning Board Meeting is making decisions for all of Delaware County (and affecting the neighboring area). So far they have had a free run with no public scrutiny or intervention. Advisors Shelly Johnson and Nicole Franchazi are PRO-GAS, and are doing everything they can to push for pipelines and fracking to come to Delaware Co. So if we want to protect our towns we must keep an eye on what they’re planning for our area.
Please attend!
State Representative Greg Vitali will host a hearing of the House Democratic Policy Committee in Harrisburg on Thursday, May 2nd on shale gas development in Pennsylvania.
The hearing will be broken down into four panels: Air issues, water issues, public health/public disclosure, and surface issues.
DIRECTIONS:
Reading Town Court, 3914 County Road 28, Watkins Glen, NY 14891, 535-7459×101.
From the south: Go through Watkins Glen up Franklin St. (route 14) until you see 4th street on your right and route 409 on your left. Turn left onto route 409.
From the east (Ithaca side of lake) on route 79: Road merges with Rte. 414 as you go down hill into Watkins Glen, where it turns into 4th street. Keep going till you get to the intersection of 4th and Franklin. Pull straight through onto route 409.
—
Once you are on route 409, go approx. .6 miles until you see a sign on your right for Hammondsport and also for “Route 23 to route 28.” Take that right.
Go approximately 1.2 miles to where route 28 branches off to the right, and take route 28.
In approximately .8 miles, route 28 curves sharply to the left (it looks like 28 might continue straight, but that’s a different road). Curve left and go about a quarter mile to where rout 28 goes sharply to the right. Go right and stay on 28.
From that right hand turn, go approximately 1.6 miles. The Reading Town Hall will be on your right, and that’s where the court is.
One other note. If you are using a GPS device, you might try using the setting for Reading (14876) instead of Watkins Glen (14891). I’ve heard different things about this, and I’m not sure which is better, but if the one doesn’t work, try the other.

Did you sign a gas lease before you knew the risks? So did some of your fellow community members.
The Sanford-Oquaga Area Concerned Citizens (S-OACC) is sponsoring an educational workshop to inform you of your legal rights concerning lease termination, force majeure, insurance, and real estate implications should you chose to sell your property.
