The People for a Healthy Environment, Inc. and the Coalition to Protect New York are delighted to be presenting the following event free & open to the public.
Jessica Ernst, Canadian Scientist and Internationally Known Speaker. The name of her talk is: “Truth and Consequences of Fracking”
She will be introduced by and in conversation with CornellProfessor Anthony Ingraffea on stage together.
Jessica Ernst is a Canadian scientist with 30 years of petroleum industry experience. She is presently suing the Alberta government, the Energy Resources Conservation Board, and Encana Corporation for negligence and unlawful activities related to hydraulic fracturing and contamination of well water. Her claim alleges that Encana broke multiple provincial laws and regulations and contaminated an aquifer that supplied drinking water to her Rosebud, Alberta community. Ms. Ernst will tell her story of “living frac’d” and will present both industry and regulatory research showing the impact of industry-caused gas migration into ground water.
Dr. Anthony R. Ingraffea is the Dwight C. Baum Professor of Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Cornell University. He is Director of Cornell Fracture Group and Acting Director of the Cornell Theory Center. He is Principal/Co-principal investigator of over $32M in sponsored R&D at Cornell. He specializes in fracture mechanics.
